Home Users. If you want just one or two wireless-enabled video cameras to monitor your home, plus allow for a few days of playback recordings, do look for wifi-enabled video cameras that has a uSD slot (microSD slot), The uSD slot allows you to insert up to 128GB or more, capacity card.

In fact, we have customers who are more than satisfied with using an entry-level capacity of 16GB microSD card. All you have to do is ensure the wifi-enabled video camera's motion-detection option is  set on.

Office Managers. Most offices settle for a digital video recorder (DVR) that stores video streaming from 4 CCTV cameras. Well, DVRs also come designed for 8, 16 and 32 cameras input. In most of the cases, DVRs have outputs for both VGA and HDMI, allowing for superior live viewing and playback.

All modern DVRs are capable of being connected to the office network switches - providing real-time "anywhere" video access to authorised users. Not only that. Modern DVRs have extra features that allow for video from additional IP network cameras to be streamed and stored within the DVR's storage.

Retail Shop Owners. Although your existing CCTV system may be a few years old, it is still possible to upgrade the existing system by simply replacing the DVR and/or the CCTV cameras.

If your DVR still stores videos in CIF or D1 resolution-type, you will have to replace the DVR, with one that allows for HD recording. Then, it is simply going about to getting the desired high-definition CCTV cameras.

Have no fear. Due to good production planning and the prevalent use of CCTV, DVRs are getting more affordable then before.

Need on-site servicing? Users of CCTV system may not know this BUT that DVR and those cameras that are mounted up the wall NEED a regular clean up. If you are not savy at opening the DVR up or just simply don't feel like climbing up to clean the cameras' lenses - give us a CALL.

Regular maintenance service (ad hoc or on contract) is to ensure that dirt (lots of them) do not clog up the internal ventilation fan of the DVR, and that layers of the dirt do not act as top-level "conductor" to all the  surface-mounted chips and components. Sometimes, small lizards do end up as dried stuff within the DVR or the power distribution box.

DVR versus NVR? In its simplest form , a DVR usually has 4, 8, 16 or 32 physical BNC ports at the back panel. This is where cables run from here to all over the premises - a cable for each analogue CCTV camera.

A more sohpisticated DVR might have additional capability to entertain a few IP network cameras. These network cameras do not connect directly to the DVR. Instead they are connected to nearby network switches (or router, if wireless IP network cameras are used). The DVR will have a network port where a network cable connects it to the nearest network switch.

An NVR (network video recorder) on the other hand, looks like just a plain box with a network port. As per its build capacity, it allows 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 numbers of IP network cameras to stream their videos into the NVR's internal storage via the network switch that connects to the NVR. Of course, there is more to this than what is summarised here.
